Preschool
A typical day in our classroom is full of learning, growing and fun. Take a look and see what we do during the day.
Opening: Songs, calendar, weather, and story time during which the children develop communication and listening skills, an awareness of the world around them, and positive self-esteem.
Jesus Time: Through daily Bible stories, praise songs, prayer, and discussions about specific Bible stories the children learn that Jesus loves them, cares about their needs and is their special friend. Children will attend chapel once a week.
Kindergarten Readiness Skills: This involves learning the alphabet and their sounds, numbers 1-20, colors and shapes. Children also learn to write their first name.
Choice time (Play Time): Dramatic play areas, manipulative toys, books and puzzles, and special interest centers help develop the child’s small motor skills, hand-eye coordination, self-concept, creativity, imagination, awareness of the world around him/her, as well as, social and decision making skills.
Rest Time: Children will have a rest time each day. Your child may sleep or lay quietly during this time. Each child must rest for at least 30 minutes.
Art, Science and Music: Painting, art and craft projects, “messy art”, fun, hands-on, science experiments, music and rhythm are integrated into our curriculum.
Large Muscle Time: A combination of free choice, with a wide variety of large muscle toys, guided games and exercise. Large muscle time strengthens and develops large muscle skills (skipping, jumping, climbing, etc.) and provides the opportunity to develop decision making skills and appropriate social interaction with peers.
Snack Time/Meal Time: Snack and meal time provides another opportunity for socialization and fun!
Clean Up: Children love to be helpers. They will have the opportunity to help with “jobs” and will be responsible for their belongings.
